From Voice Loss to Visionary: How RWP Lexi Sull Found Her Path to Transformative Healing
In her early twenties, Lexi Sull embodied the quintessential “busy” New York City lifestyle – running sales calls from 8 AM to 8 PM, traveling the country for client meetings, and embracing the “work hard, play hard” mentality that defined her healthcare tech career. Between endless pitch meetings, implementation calls, and cross-country flights to present to executive boards, Lexi was logging over 60 hours a week – “I was running on four cups of coffee a day, grabbing quick vegetarian meals between meetings, and unwinding with spicy takeout and drinks with colleagues,” Lexi recalls. “Looking back, it was the perfect storm.”
That storm broke when she woke up one morning unable to speak. After multiple doctors dismissed her symptoms as laryngitis, a specialist finally discovered two vocal polyps requiring immediate surgery and three months of complete vocal rest. “I had to take medical leave from my job,” she shares. “But that was just the beginning of my wake-up call.”
Going Beyond Conventional Healthcare
Lexi had spent much of her career working to support the healthcare system. She was pre-med for a part of her undergraduate studies and, upon graduation, established her career in the healthcare tech sector. But, despite her background in this area, she found herself incurring many challenges while trying to navigate her own healing process.
“The surgery to remove my vocal polyps helped my voice, but everything else got worse,” she recalls. “Hypothyroidism, PCOS, cystic acne, debilitating menstrual migraines – it was like my body was sending an urgent message I couldn't ignore.”
What followed was a four-year journey through conventional and functional medicine. From her Harvard-trained primary care practitioner to a neurologist and allergist, she struggled to get answers. She eventually found functional medicine, which helped her make some progress. But, she still felt like something was missing: “It took three functional medicine practitioners to help me heal,” she shares. “And while each helped piece together part of the puzzle – we identified severe heavy metal toxicity and addressed various symptoms – I knew something was still missing and I set out to learn as much as I could to help heal myself.”
The RWS Difference
After completing training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Nutritional Therapy Association and discovering severe gaps in her knowledge, Lexi knew she needed more. “I needed to understand labs and testing. Nutrition alone wasn't enough.” That's when she discovered Restorative Wellness Solutions.
For Lexi, RWS stood out for three critical reasons:
“First, the rigorous, fast-paced professional structure pushed me to excel. It wasn't just another certification – it was a true clinical education,” she explains. “Second, RWS taught me critical thinking beyond just interpreting tests. They showed me how to think systematically about when and why to use different tools.”
But perhaps most importantly, RWS provided a methodical framework for client care. “The ‘test attack' approach I'd experienced personally – running every possible test upfront – wasn't just overwhelming, it was inefficient and expensive. RWS taught me how to strategically sequence testing for better outcomes and cost-effectiveness.”
Building a Thriving Practice
Armed with RWS's systematic approach and clinical framework, Lexi launched her practice with confidence. Within months of completing RWS's Mastering the Art & Science of Gastrointestinal Healing, she built a thriving practice serving 30 clients. This rapid success, she explains, stems directly from three core principles she mastered through RWS:
- Strategic & Intentional Lab Testing Sequences: “Instead of overwhelming clients with multiple tests upfront, I learned to start with foundational assessments and build from there. This methodical approach not only saves clients money but produces better results.”
- Stop Chasing Individual Symptoms & Focus On Finding The Root Cause: “RWS showed me how seemingly unrelated symptoms often connect. For instance, I never thought headaches were primarily digestive issues until I learned about the gut-brain connection through RWS. Now it's transformed how I approach symptom patterns.”
- Client-Centered Care Can Be Both Empathetic & Empowering: ”One of the most profound lessons from RWS was that we're not here to fix people – we're here to serve them. This shift in perspective completely changed how I approach client relationships.”
Pro Tips for Fellow Practitioners
Drawing from both her personal healing journey and her experience building a successful practice, Lexi offers these key insights for practitioners at any stage of their journey:
- Embrace Your Unique Background: “Instead of feeling insecure about not being a traditional medical practitioner, identify what makes your approach valuable. Your combination of skills and experiences is an asset.”
- Set Clear Boundaries: “RWS taught me the importance of systematic protocols. Don't be afraid to explain to clients why you're taking a specific approach – they appreciate knowing there's a method behind your decisions.”
- Build Community: “Connect with other RWS practitioners. The collective knowledge and support are invaluable, especially when you're building your practice.”
A Vision for Integrated Healing
Looking ahead, Lexi is excited to combine the advanced clinical skills she’s learned from RWS with a multi-faceted approach to client care and support inspired by her own healing journey. “Through my personal experience, I discovered that physical healing, emotional wellbeing, and relationships are deeply interconnected,” she explains. “I’m currently working to build a practice that honors all these elements and that leverages the advanced clinical approach I’ve learned through RWS.”
Her innovative model consists of three interconnected healing tracks:
- Physical Foundation First: Using RWS's methodical approach to gut healing and functional nutrition, Lexi helps clients establish a strong physical foundation. “We start with comprehensive testing and targeted protocols to address root causes – this is essential before diving deeper into other aspects of healing.”
- Subconscious Healing: Drawing from her training in manifestation work, Lexi guides clients through releasing limiting beliefs and emotional blocks. “Many health issues have both physical and emotional components. By addressing subconscious patterns while supporting physical healing, we often see more profound and lasting results.”
- Relationship & Lifestyle Integration: Having experienced firsthand how relationships impact health, Lexi helps clients navigate important life transitions. “Whether it's preparing for marriage, starting a family, or making career changes, these moments significantly affect our wellbeing. I provide practical tools and support to help clients thrive through these transitions.”
Lexi is also looking forward to expanding her impact through international healing retreats and group programs designed to make functional healing more accessible. She's hosting her first retreat in Mexico City in December, with plans for another retreat to be hosted in early 2025.
“For the first time in my life, I truly love what I do,” she reflects. “RWS gave me the clinical expertise I needed, and now I'm combining that with other healing modalities to serve clients in a way that's both scientifically grounded and deeply transformative. That's something I never found possible in my previous healthcare career.”
